On October 14, 2022, Minister, Hon. Ginette Petitpas Taylor, the Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and other federal authorities made a visit to CCCCA – an excellent academic research centre on climate change adaptation situated in St. Peter Bay, PEI.

During her visit to PEI to meet with a number of ACOA clients who were recently affected by the Fiona hurricane, particularly those from the north shore, the Minister expressed an interest in visiting the CCCCA centre.

Ross Dwyer, a CCCCA representative administrator, was on hand to show the Minister around the centre, including the drone port. Dr. Aitazaz A Farooque also showcased to the Minister how innovative technology is being developed to cut off greenhouse gas emissions through precision agriculture, and Dr. Xiuquan Wang gave a brief overview of his Climate Smart Lab, as well as other technologies that have been established to address future climate change in PEI and beyond.
