Congratulations to the student members of the Climate Smart Lab, Rana Ali Nawaz and Tianze Pang, who have passed their PhD candidacy exams on May 16, 2024.

Tianze Pang took his exam with the topic of Dynamic Process of Shoreline Change in the Context of Climate Change. Currently Tianze is a third-year student in the program of PhD in Environmental Sciences. His research mainly focuses on the coastal hazards of erosion, storm surges and floods.

Rana Ali Nawaz, a dedicated third-year Ph.D. student in Sustainable Design Engineering at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), successfully passed his candidacy exam on May 14, 2024. His research, titled “High-Resolution Seasonal Climate Predictions and Long-Term Climate Projections for Prince Edward Island,” investigates the changing climate patterns of PEI. Nawaz’s work is set to contribute significantly to understanding and addressing the impacts of climate change on the island.
