Junaid Maqsood is a Research Assistant at the School of Climate Change and Adaptation, University of Prince Edward Island (UPI). Before joining the Climate Smart Lab, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE), UPEI. During that period, he was involved in different projects, e.g.; Statistical downscaling and projection of meteorological parameters, Coastline erosion monitoring of PEI, Delineation of soil management zones, finding the impact of climate change on the Island’s crop yield, and developing adaptation strategies to mitigate the climatic effects for sustainable agriculture in Prince Edward Island (PEI),.
Junaid have completed my master’s degree in Sustainable Design Engineering from FSDE, UPEI, and my undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Pakistan. His master’s research focused on the statistical downscaling and projections of climatic extremes and determining the impact of climate change on the sustainability of potato production in PEI.
Before starting the master’s degree, he worked as a research assistant at Water and Sanitation Agency in Pakistan. After that, he worked as an internee in a research project titled: “Sensor-based precision irrigation system for improving water productivity of cereal crops” at UAF. He also served as a field coordinator in the joint research project titled: “InnoCottonGrow” between the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), the University of Wurzburg (Germany), and the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (Pakistan) conducted at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.
