Sana Basheer, a PhD student at Climate Smart Lab who is currently working on coastal ecosystems research, was awarded best poster presentation during the PEOPLE 2022 Conference, took place on 23-26 August in Charlottetown, PEI.

Her research was to prepare compost from food waste for improving nutritional soil fertilizer by using windrow composting. Three composting windrows for food waste were developed in her study, with three treatments of sewerage water, tap water, and effective microbial spray. Based on the results, her research shows that microbial spray performed better than the other treated composting piles.

Congratulation, Sana !
